The QCAA is a statutory body of the Queensland Government established under the Education (Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority) Act 2014. In collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders and partner agencies, the QCAA plays a critical role in the design and delivery of education in Queensland.
The School Support Unit is part of the QCAA's Curriculum Services Division. The School Support Unit is responsible for providing a point of contact for school-related questions and issues in its initial period of transition to senior schooling. The unit is responsible for the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) international (Queensland recognised offshore schools), onboarding new senior secondary schools and, in consultation with the other units across the Branch and Division, provides quality support for teaching, learning and assessment practices in schools.
This position reports to the Director, Senior Assessment and Certification Support Branch. Three (3) positions report directly to this role.
Main responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Lead and manage the School Support Unit taking all reasonable steps to ensure that you and employees in the unit are aware of expectations around their work performance and personal conduct, public sector principles, QCAA values and public sector values and what constitutes corruption conduct.
- Lead the development of policies and processes for the commercialisation of QCAA's curriculum, assessment and certification services.
- Leads the development of processes to use system data analysis of quality assurance outcomes to identify, plan and evaluate School Support services and future practice.
- Lead and manage projects within timelines, using allocated resources and involving others across the Authority, specifically, projects to develop professional learning and resources responsive to the needs of Queensland recognised offshore schools, and to plan and present professional development for teachers and senior administration of Queensland recognised offshore schools to support the implementation of the QCE.
- Liaise with project teams to support the processes and administration of endorsement, confirmation and the external assessments in offshore schools.
- Provide expert strategic advice to the Director, Senior Assessment and Certification Support Branch on issues related to assessment and certification for offshore schools.
- Participate in forums, workshops and discussion groups, liaise with government educational agencies and prepare briefings, correspondence and reports.
- Create and maintain professional working relationships between the Authority and key stakeholders.
- Leads the collaborative development of the Assessors' Conference involving officers across the organisation.
