Rugby League is Australia’s most entertaining and popular sport. With a rich history dating back to its creation in 1907, Rugby League telecasts have grown to be the most watched programs on Australian Television.
At it’s heart, Rugby League is a community-based sport played by hundreds of thousands right across Australia, especially in country areas. In addition, there are countless people who give their time volunteering to ensure boys and girls, teenagers, and adults can play the sport they love each weekend.
We have two (2) job vacancies, based in Sydney and Brisbane for the role of Manager, Schools Strategy. The main accountability for these roles will be to increase the number of children playing Rugby League (touch, tag and tackle) in schools across Australia and support the NRL to be the most reliable, trustworthy and supportive sport in the eyes of the Education Department. These roles work closely with the Participation Senior Leadership team to secure long term, mutually beneficial partnerships with Education Departments that drive both NRL and Department of Education outcomes with students and teachers.
These roles will suit visionary School leaders with a passion for education, a deep understanding of the challenges facing schools today, and the ability to devise and implement effective solutions in securing long term, mutually beneficial partnerships with Education Departments. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with educators to shape the future of Rugby League in education.
The successful candidates will create and nurture communities of principals, supporting them to achieve professional goals using Rugby League. You will thrive in leading and developing strategy and the successful execution of NRL initiatives in education and schools, leveraging your existing stakeholder relationships.
In summary you’ll:
- Assist in the implementation of NRL’s strategic plan to establish and maintain partnerships with schools in NSW, Queensland and affiliated States.
- Collaborate with Principals, teachers, and other stakeholders to promote rugby league participation and engagement among students.
- Organise and deliver engagement opportunities for Principals and teachers to introduce students to the sport and develop their skills.
- Work closely with NRL clubs and community rugby league organisations to align resources and outcomes.
- Support the development of educational materials to integrate rugby league into school curriculum and extracurricular activities.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of school partnerships and initiatives, and provide regular reports to senior management.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of NRL in the future with regard to schools and education, at all levels
- Senior education professional with a background in sport with exceptional influencing skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop, lead and implement a broad range of education strategies aligned to NRL’s School strategy
- Passionate about promoting the great work happening in schools.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, presenting, decision making, and engagement skills
