About the Position
The Case Manager plays a vital role in the General Family Based Foster Care Service which provides respite, emergency, short term and long term care for children and young people referred by the Department for Child Protection who are unable to live with their families and for whom relative or kinship care is not an option.
As a Case Manager key responsibilities will include:
- Recruitment and assessment of carers
- Supporting foster families and social worker
- Case management and individualised placement planning
- Provision of training and education sessions
- Maintaining accurate records and reports as per funding requirements.
This is a Full-Time role, working 38 hours per week, based in Whyalla, South Australia.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
· A minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention or Certificate IV in Community Services, a Degree in Social Work or equivalent is desirable.
· Experience in providing support services to families.
· Knowledge of the Family Based Foster Care Service.
· Knowledge of the Children’s Protection Act, 1993.
· Demonstratedunderstanding of the impacts of child abuse and neglect.
· Demonstrated understanding and knowledge around trauma responsive practices.
· Demonstrated ability to maintain high quality file management, which includes collating, maintaining and reporting on accurate data and information.
· Experience in working in a highly confidential manner.
· High level of communication skills (verbal and written).
· High level of ability in the use of Microsoft Office and Information Technology.
Requirements of the role:
· Hold (or willingness to obtain) a current DHS Working With Children Check – don't worry, we can support this process if necessary!
· Hold (or a willingness to obtain) a National Criminal History Record Check (Police Check)
· Hold a current South Australian Driver’s License (minimum Provisional License)
