About the role:
AGL’s strategic direction is to play our role in Australia’s decarbonisation journey by connecting our customers to a sustainable future and transitioning our energy portfolio. AGL is taking action to accelerate Australia’s transition to a lower carbon future. Reporting to the Head of Strategy, the Strategy Manager will play a central role in contributing to the corporate strategy development, providing strategic updates to the executive team and to the board, driving strategic projects, developing strategic insights and leading cross-functional collaboration.
What you'll be doing:
Work with senior leaders on strategic topics: from defining the opportunity, scope, options and proposed approach, related strategic metrics to the implementation plan.
Set up and run strategy governance process for the Board and executive team to have a clear and informed decision making forum.
Prepare strategic presentations and board papers for the Board and for the executive team.
Collaborate with Business Units and Corporate Functions to develop and implement business strategies in-line and informed by enterprise level strategy.
Lead strategic initiatives that allow AGL to shift the dial and demonstrate to market that the AGL is on its transformation journey.
Lead large cross-functional teams to deliver against strategic projects including developing external and internal insights and implications.
Lead, develop and contribute to complex quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Building trusting, long-lasting relationships with executives and senior leaders across Business Units and Corporate Functions to drive insights and recommendations to actions.
What you'll bring to the role:
Individuals in this role will have strategy experience in a large consulting firm or corporate strategy team, analytical experience and experience building strong relationships at the executive level. They will have the ability to see a problem and the initiative to assemble the right colleagues to go about solving it. They will also be excited to help AGL achieve its strategic objectives and passionate about the energy industry and the energy transition.
Demonstrated experience as a strategy consultant or in a strategy function for a large Corporate.
Experience coaching and leading others in teams to effectively deliver outcomes.
Excellent communication skills including memos, reports, PowerPoint and verbal communications.
Robust quantitative skill set – evidenced by work experience or University qualification.
Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with senior executives and colleagues with various levels of seniority and professional backgrounds.
Experience in the energy industry (electricity generation, electricity retail, T&D, O&G) very highly regarded.
Experience in policy advocacy, sustainability or energy transition would be highly advantageous.
An MBA or master's degree in management or finance would be highly desirable.
