About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Academic Services Officer, you will lead the strategic planning, and development of a University of South Australia Student Equity framework, and implementation of university wide programs and initiatives that support improved student access, participation, and success for underrepresented and educationally disadvantaged groups. You will also lead the strategic coordination, monitoring, and reporting on performance against the University’s equity targets in order to meet all internal and external reporting requirements.
About the Academic Services Portfolio
The Chief Academic Services Officer (CASO) is a member of the University’s Enterprise Leadership Team (ELT) and is responsible for leadership of the Academic Services portfolio. The portfolio is committed to the delivery of high quality, integrated academic and student services to facilitate a student’s journey from enrolment to graduation.
The Academic Services Portfolio is responsible for:
- Efficient and effective academic services
- Comprehensive and proactive student services
- Student engagement, experience and equity activities
- International student recruitment and support
- Regional Campus operations
- University-wide projects to improve service provision

Essential Skills and Experience
- Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field with relevant experience or equivalent substantial relevant experience in an education or social justice area
- Demonstrated experience working with equity groups, communities, and/or organisations
- Demonstrated high ability to develop and implement strategic plans and translate strategic goals into operational plans
- Strong project management and financial acumen skills, with demonstrated experience in managing and executing concurrent projects with competing deadlines
- Strong experience with program evaluation and implementing continuous improvement practices
- Demonstrated ability to understand and analyse complex issues related to education equity and develop relevant policy and strategic responses for university consideration
- Proven analytical, research and writing skills to enable the effective synthesis of complex information and data from multiple sources, and the provision of high quality, evidence-based content
- High-level knowledge of state and national higher education and equity policy and Student Equity framework
