About the Role

 

We have an exciting Manager Training opportunity at Olympic Dam, reporting to the General Manager Engineering & NPI, where you will apply your leadership skills and experience within a mature mining environment. In this role you will fulfil a key position within the senior leadership team, guiding a team of training professionals, and directly influencing training strategy and performance across Copper SA.

 

This opportunity is well-suited to someone who is highly influential and has deep foundational people leadership capability and is looking to lead a team which is shaping processes and translating strategy into tangible programs that contribute to meeting and exceeding targets, within a changing and diverse workforce.

 

 

This role will be offered as Adelaide based with regular site travel to Roxby Down, Prominent Hill and Carrapateena sites.

In this role you will:

 

  • Provide leadership for a team of high performing training development professionals.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of training plans and improvement of training programs to maintain safety, compliance and performance during mining operations.
  • Ensure that training systems and work is optimised for all sites and partnering with GMs and Managers to ensure fit for purpose training is applied.
  • Collaborate with global training to ensure global training is optimised for the asset.
  • Develop the roadmap and manage the integration of the Oz sites into Copper SA, ultimately ensuring that the integration of the Oz sites into BHP is managed smoothly and with minimal impact.
  • Accountable for overseeing the teams that support graduates, apprentices, trainees and interns.
  • Collaborate and work closely with General Managers, Heads of, external stakeholders, Government, and operational teams across the business.
  • Be responsible for governance/assurance practices and Management of Change procedures to control value outcomes across BHP. 
  • Responsible for the Governance and Legal compliance of training across the Asset.
  • Management of learning systems including SuccessFactors LMS, PowerBI and learning dashboards.
  • Drive innovative and creative solutions for adult learners to improve training and education across the Asset.
  • Work collaboratively with other training teams to improve training delivery and risk management.

About You

 

  • Leadership experience within Operational, Technical or Training settings across complex organisations
  • Understanding of South Australian Training Legislation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving proactive training outcomes.
  • Effective and highly influential diverse stakeholder engagement including an ability to constructively challenge ideas and build trusted relationships.
  • Highly developed and demonstrated change management and culture building capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and presentations skills and the ability to engage across a multitude of levels.
  • A sound understanding of key business and mining industry performance drivers.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker that demonstrates business acumen, with the ability to focus and prioritise critical deliverables to provide timely insights to stakeholders.
  • Formal qualifications and/or equivalent experience in Training, Human Resources or Organisational Development or an aligned discipline will be well regarded.
