About the Legal Aid NT:
The Domestic Violence Legal Service (DVLS) is a specialised stand-alone service which operates under the auspices of the Legal Aid NT. DVLS is committed to delivering high quality legal advice and representation to victim-survivors of domestic, family, and sexual violence (DFSV) and includes a dedicated support worker providing non-Legal Services to advance the safety and wellbeing of women and children. The service also undertakes law reform and policy, prevention, and early intervention activities, such as the development and delivery of community legal education.
About the role:
Under the supervision of the Managing Practitioner – Family Law Practice of Legal Aid NT, the Managing Solicitor will manage and coordinate the DVLS office including the supervision of solicitors and administrative staff.
About you:
You are an experienced Solicitor with significant experience, excellent leadership, and a deep understanding of domestic and family violence issues. You will have demonstrated staff and practice management experience, including capacity to supervise and train professional staff, and manage change as well as the ability to provide leadership in the provision of legal assistance to vulnerable people.
Crucial in your success in this role is your strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to influence and negotiate, to engage and build collaborative relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders and to communicate effectively and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.
