- Position: Manual Machinist
- Location: Canning Vale
- Normal Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday, between 6 am and 4:30 pm (Saturday on request)
To operate Manual lathe, Mill & Horizontal Borer Machinery to carry out the repair and manufacture of products.
Relationships and Authority:
- Report to: Workshop Leading hand and site Manager
- Liaise with: Manager, Planner, Admin & all staff.
- External contacts: Customers from time to time
- Ensure work is carried out in a safe manner in a team environment.
- Operate Machinery on a day-to-day basis.
- Implement continuous improvement in processes, systems, and safety procedures.
- Work closely with Leading hand and site Manager to meet customer service expectations.
- Actively engage in production/material scheduling, cost control, and quoting for work.
- Provide relevant feedback to the Leading hand and site Manager for continuous product improvement.
- Adhere to OH&S and Environmental policy and procedures.
- Perform relevant work tasks as directed by the workshop Leading hand.
- Experience in Manual Machining using lathes, Mills, and Horizontal borer.
- Trade certificate or equivalent in a Machining background.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Operate Gantry crane to help set up jobs.
- Forklift license desirable but not essential.
- In conjunction with w/shop leading hand plan daily tasks to be achieved.
- Liaise with w/shop leading hand on any expected delays or daily issues.
- Assist w/shop Leading hand & planner with any new mods required to be priced and designed.
- Assist all tradesmen with technical issues where required.
- Ensure workshop consumables and oil levels are kept at agreed levels.
- Keep w/shop Leading hand informed on training and tooling requirements.
- Ensure tooling is cared for and any broken tooling reported.
