APS Industrial manufacturing division is based just south of Adelaide on 8000 square metres in Clarence Gardens. A modern and new manufacturing facility dedicated to the production of Distribution Boards and ancillary Electrical components using the latest in German technology. 

About The Role

Reports to the Manufacturing Operations Manager.

As a Manufacturing Purchasing Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring all materials supplied internally and externally are delivered on time. You will work closely with the Production Scheduler and stores staff, so all parts are supplied in line with the manufacturing requirements. This will include onsite stock levels management, forecasting of materials and the consumables Kanban system. 

Your skill set will also be put to use as a major contributor to improvement projects across the supply chain from selecting suppliers, purchasing of parts to picking ready for production. The ongoing goal is to continuously improve efficiency and reduce waste with ownership by the Manufacturing team. A major component of this will be understanding the current and future ERP system limitations, workarounds and modules which may assist in the improvements. You will be proud of our workspace and participate in its maintenance and upkeep.

The Skills Required 

  • SAP experience highly regarded but not essential
  • In-depth understanding of ERP System Management.
  • Raise Internal & External P.O‘s to fulfill production requirements including Kanban Sundries.
  • Raise Internal & External Invoices.
  • Credit returns as required on project completion.
  • Part creates and management through ERP system.
  • BOM ordering and processing.
  • Materials expedited through national channels.
  • Materials planned and purchased as needed in anticipation of demand. 
  • Setting up and managing safety stock of manufacturing materials.
  • Ensure stock accuracy and project material allocation through ERP system. 
  • Maintain kanban system consumables ensuring no stockouts of regular items. 
  • Manage and run the annual stock take of the manufacturing business. 
  • High level of record keeping skills for historical retrieval of information.
  • Raising themselves or ensuring other team members are capturing all supplier related issues and populating with the relevant information. 
  • Pricelists for external suppliers are kept up to date. 
  • Supplier contact list incorporating after hours escalation details and Xmas shutdowns documents are maintained.     
  • Review order confirmation reports from suppliers to set delivery dates in backorder report and for expediting materials. 
  • Manage the back-order reports, communicate delivery status and escalate as required. 
  • Coordinate and track logistics with all suppliers.
  • Capable of communicating at all levels from shop floor to senior management. 
  • Contribute to the development of Supplier agreements and performance reporting. 
  • Maintain the KPI dashboard and communicate weekly. 
  • Be willing and able to work between 8am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday
  • Have good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Be able to work with others.
  • Supervision skills or be willing to develop same.
  • Help develop and adhere to all Work Health & Safety and Quality requirements.
  • Observe company procedures as published from time to time.
  • Ensure all the free issued materials supplied are managed and monitored throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Work with ERP systems and utilize the data to make informed decisions from its own reports or other tools like Xls.     
  • Manage the consumable Kanban system and continuously improve. 
  • Manage parts in quarantine write-off process for supplier QA issues credit with Finance. 
  • Provide recommendations to key stake holders on stockholding levels to reduce lead times and purchasing. 
  • Consolidate external supplier equipment over multiple projects to ensure best buying power is achieved.
  • Collect data, analyze reports and provide recommendations to key stake holders. 
  • Contribute to improvement projects with teams and key stakeholders.
  • Problem solving using methodical proven methods including root cause analysis. 
  • Contribute to the development of new policies and procedures. 

 KPI’s

  • Reduction in purchasing task times through suggested improvements.   
  • Continuously improve the Kanban system so we keep minimal stock with minimal stock-outs and re-order frequency. 
  • All supplier issues are logged into the current issues register and non-conformances submitted as requested. QA issue trends are identified and presented to APS and the suppliers key stakeholders for continuous improvement.  
  • The supplier pricelist and contact list are up to date. 
  • Spare parts management with visibility of stock holding.
  • Reduction in stock-outs. 
  • Reduction in back orders delaying projects.
  • Reduction in damaged goods from supply to dispatched via reporting and Supplier agreements. 
  • Reduction in picking times.
  • Maintain the KPI dashboard and communicate weekly. 
  • Observe and comply with company policies.
  • Zero non-conformances for safety.
  • Actively participating in the work safety program.
  • Maintaining a tidy and professional workspace.
