About the role
Reporting to the Marine Maintenance Superintendent, the Marine Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of maintenance required for PMG’s fleet of vessels and overseeing the implementation of the Marine Asset Maintenance System. This role ensures that all Marine Maintenance is carried out in a professional, proficient and timely manner whilst ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and safety obligations.
Based in Townsville, this position will also assist with vessel slipping in Mackay, with occasional remote location work.

Key to the success of this role will be an individuals’ strong understanding of machinery and operations within vessels and the ability to assume overall responsibility for the planning, preparation, co-ordination and scheduling of maintenance tasks. They will also be able to demonstrate experience leading others and be willing to assist in the completion of maintenance work if required.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
- Proven experience within the marine industry in a similar position
- Qualified in the Mechanical or Marine Engineering field
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills and understand
- Understanding the requirements for Domestic Commercial Vessels (DCV), and Registered Australian Vessels (RAV)
- Demonstrated experience using asset and planned maintenance systems, specifically MEX and Sea Flux.
- Experience with Navigation Systems
- Experience with procurement
- Proven experience in developing daily work plans with clear time frames and scheduling experience, whilst having the ability to juggle conflicting workloads
- Highly developed interpersonal/people skills with the ability to form strong relationships with clients, suppliers and peers, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation
- Strong attention to detail, highly process and procedurally driven
- The ability to work in a highly reactive and fast-moving department
- High level of computer literacy, ability to work flexible working hours, and the ability to travel occasionally where required.
