About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, this newly created position will have responsibility for providing excellence in marine management, effective leadership and development, safety and environmental impacts, achieving key deliverables and customer focused operational components for the SEQ Marine team.
Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively participate as part of the Senior Leadership Team to identify and deliver against identified deliverables
  • Engage in strategic and operational planning, ensuring alignment with relevant department objectives
  • Enable direct reports to develop and work together effectively as one team to encourage innovation, build cohesive relationships and deliver excellence in customer service
  • Provide expert advice and direction to the marine management team to meet and deliver operational requirements
  • Provide input to the annual budget process for the marine department
  • Review, analyse and report on marine related matters including recommendations to improve efficiencies and outputs
  • Develop strong relationships with external and internal key stakeholders
  • Lead and participate in marine reviews to improve and strengthen internal controls around process
  • Ensure work practices are conducted in accordance with company guidelines and standards
  • Be available to provide coverage for the Operations Management Team as a point of contact for scheduled weekends and public holidays on a rotational basis.
About You
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the marine industry, along with superior project management and strong leadership skills to foster a positive culture to provide excellent customer experiences.
  • Effective contribution to the planning and execution of organisational strategy and decision making.
  • Previous experience in a similar position or demonstrable transferrable skills and knowledge
  • Ability to develop the strategic and financial goals for the profit centres of the business
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, and ability to mentor, coach and motivate others
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, ongoing learning and application of skills
  • Exceptional technical, analytical and organization skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated business acumen and financial understanding, including budget management and reporting
  • High level of computer literacy, excellent organization and document management
  • Ability to establish long-term effective working relationships with colleagues, internal and external stakeholders
  • A high level of experience in project and stakeholder management
  • Strong commitment to health, safety and environment
