About the Role

As a Market Surveillance Senior Business Analyst in our Institutional Risk tribe, you’ll play a key role in helping and assisting the Markets Compliance function in reviewing and escalating communications between front office users and the external market to help detect and minimise potential market misconduct and market abuse. This role is responsible for liaising with stakeholders to elicit, analyse, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems.  This role requires a strong Business Analyst with a proven history working in complex financial markets projects.

Exposure to risk management platforms such as Wallstreet, Murex or Calypso is essential, as is understanding booking models, data structure and interfaces.

We are looking for an experienced analyst who is a strong communicator, has excellent documentation skills and most importantly is confident dealing with stakeholders across the business and at all levels. 

This role is accountable for:

  • Working effectively with both Technology and Markets Surveillance to bring accurate and timely deliverables that meet project requirements.
  • Demonstrate ANZ values and build customer focused culture, adapting own behaviour to changing demands, fostering collaboration across teams / business units
  • Understanding existing business use and terminology.
  • Understanding and assessing available technology and limitations and applying practical solutions where required.

Role Type: Fixed-Term, Full-Time (12 months, 40 hours/week)

What will your day look like?


As a Market Surveillance Senior Business Analyst, you will: 

  • Be working in a squad where you will use your Business Analysis skills to work collaborative with various ANZ businesses and our vendor to perform business process, systems and gap analysis, identify and capture detailed business requirements, conduct impact and risk assessments and support any co-ordination internally of migration activities.
  • Own the project’s change management streams and liaise widely across the bank to ensure the program meets all internal project delivery and change governance requirements.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure all business and customer impacts have been considered, document and communicate these widely, and bring your problem-solving and analytical mindset to help the bank support best practice delivery of analysed requirements and change management.
  • Own the project’s change management streams and liaise widely across the bank to ensure the program meets all internal project delivery and change governance requirements.
  • Own, organise and support change and implementation activities to ensure all impacted teams and roles are trained, equipped and ready to absorb and manage the change, verify and validate what is in production (especially after changes).
  • Assist in developing business testing strategy and plans across multiple business units with the support of the Product Owner and squad, and co-ordinate/execute on these wide-scale test and regression plans.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Knowledge of Regulatory & Compliance and trade lifecycle is essential.
  • Experience with risk management systems (Wall Street/Murex/Calypso) is essential 
  • Strong knowledge in data management is essential (SQL, VLOOKUP, PIVOT etc)
  • Strong

Problem solving skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of trading platforms (FXall, FXConnect, Bloomberg etc) 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment to achieve results under tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of derivative products across FICC
  • Experience dealing with offshore development and support teams 
  • Knowledge of Splunk SPL and Python would be advantageous 
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to ‘roll up your sleeves’ with the team to get delivery across the line in a fast-paced environment, flexing consistently between your SME capabilities and squad priorities that require swarming.
  • Strong functional experience or expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: Business Analysis, Project/PMO Management, Test Management and/or Execution, and/or Change Management.
  • Strong communication/presentation skills and be highly experienced in preparing and conducting workshops, eliciting, documenting and managing requirements using a broad range of innovative elicitation practices/techniques (i.e. HCD Toolkit, Process Modelling, Use

Cases, Stories, Acceptance Criteria, Interface Specifications etc.) 

  • Proficiency with collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, Sharepoint, Teams etc.).
  • Interest in or affinity for Technology change.

Previous technical experience or understanding of large-scale technology projects or document services will be highly regarded.
