Wyndham Basketball Association (WBA) is the largest non-professional sporting association in Melbourne’s West. Our vision is to “Be the association of choice in Melbourne’s West, providing the opportunity for everyone to participate in the game of basketball”.
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will work closely with the WBA General Manager, WBA Executive Committee and WBA Business Units to develop and deliver promotional campaigns across new and traditional media platforms, describing and explaining the benefits of WBA programs and services to potential partners and new and existing members.
It is an all-encompassing role, providing an opportunity for you to utilise your skills and knowledge in areas including sponsorship, event management, merchandising, graphic design, and website development.
To be considered for this role you will need to have proven experience in managing and administering successful sports Marketing and communication campaigns.
Strategy Development & Execution Accountabilities:
- Work with the General Manager and WBA Executive committee to create, manage and implement a WBA marketing, branding, and Communications strategy & plan
- Contribute to the existing marketing programs while creating new marketing strategies to support business growth aligned with the WBA goals
Marketing, Events & Branding Accountabilities:
- Develop creative and exciting marketing activities focused on targeted audiences
- Oversee the development and maintenance of the WBA’s branding elements across all touchpoints
- Ensure consistency and alignment of the WBA brand’s look and feel throughout all aspects of the business
- Develop an annual WBA events calendar and lead the end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of all major WBA events
- Design of program logos, marketing collateral, presentation documents, programs, and publications plus any other WBA graphic design requirements
- Oversee merchandise for the organisation including managing relationships with suppliers; overseeing design and implementation of new items, management of stock and quality control.
- With the General Manager formulate marketing, communication and event budgets
Social Media & Website Accountabilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy
- Manage social media platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, and LinkedIn. Create engaging posts on all platforms.
- Define the look and feel of a new WBA website, ensuring it is visually appealing, user friendly and aligned with the WBA brand
Sponsorship Accountabilities:
- With the General Manager, develop and implement sponsorship packages aimed at securing sustained support and mutually beneficial partnerships
- Manage sponsor relationships and ensure all sponsorship requirements are met and delivered as per agreements
Team Environment & Culture Accountabilities:
- Establish an environment and supportive culture, aligned with the WBA values
- Ensure open and regular communications are maintained between all parties involved in WBA programs including players, coaches, service providers, funding agencies, supporters, media, sponsors, and staff
- Collaboratively work with the unit leaders across the Grassroots, Domestic Competition, and High-performance portfolios to provide management and coordination support for other WBA events
Stakeholder Relations Accountabilities:
- Actively seek and establish new relationships within and outside the Wyndham community to broaden the WBA network and influence
- Work with the General Manager and WBA Executive Committee to engage government agencies, commercial partners and sponsors
- In conjunction with the General Manager, support agreed on strategies to ensure effective communication with WBA sponsors and the broader basketball industry
- Grow and nurture the WBA online community, fostering positive interactions
- Support the implementation of special projects that will enhance WBA’s profile and performance

This is a full-time position, typically 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday, however due to the nature of the role and the sports industry, some out of hours work including weekends and evenings will be required as standard.
