The Background
The Marketing Assistant supports the marketing function and will be responsible for improving the engagement capabilities of Kidney Health Australia’s digital channels, analysing and reporting on consumer activity, creating content, engaging online with our incredible community, promoting fundraising campaigns and creating offline content that builds real relationships with new and existing audiences.
Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, you'll get involved in all areas of marketing, including driving brand recognition, early detection of kidney disease, community engagement and program use, fundraising, and clinical audience engagement.
This is a 6 month full time contract role, but open to reduced hours over longer period.

What You'll Focus on Day to Day
Content Development
- Design and develop marketing content, including video, infographics, images, flyers, fact sheets, long form content and much more!
- Create cutting edge content for 8 social media channels
- Copywriting for SEO, diverse audiences and channels
Social Media Community Engagement
- Manage and moderate all social media communities including drafting and posting content in a kind and purposeful way
- Prepare and maintain key approved social media responses based on best practice principles, previous experiences with community and organisational objectives
- Regularly feedback insights gained from community engagement
Digital Optimisation
- Support the maintenance, optimisation and reporting of digital channels including social media, website, eDMs.
- Support the implementation of the social media content strategy
PR, Merch and More.
- Help deliver new brand initiatives
- Help deliver marketing campaigns, including PR and event support.
- Support writing media releases and media outreach/engagement
- Champion brand externally and internally, ensuring adherence to brand guidelines across the organisation and beyond
- Merch management including orders, stock management, and distribution of sold merch
- Opportunities to dress up in Billy Mascot costume (not compulsory)!
Who You Are
- Tertiary qualifications in Marketing OR 3+ years work experience in PR/Marketing/Comms. If you're returning to work after a hiatus or going through a career change, open to hear from you too!
- You have a knack for saying the right thing to the right person at the right time and have a sensitivity to tone of voice of brands and their diverse audiences.
- Confident, proactive and collaborative approach to work - you're a go-getter
- Proven time management/organisational skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Perfect English
- Experience in Facebook community management and moderation or high level customer service
- Digitally savvy with ability to self-learn new platforms, whether that’s a creative platform like TikTok or technical like Google Analytics.
- Marketing is both art and science and you thrive in both the creative space and analytical thinking
- You’re just as comfortable responding to a public social media post as you are writing and editing a long document.
- Creative eye and ease using Canva and other content development apps
- Competency in graphic design, i.e. using Adobe Suite
Nice to haves:
- Experience with Craft CMS
- Facebook Ads Manager, Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, AdWords
- SEO understanding
Kidney Health Australia consider that the safety of children and young people is paramount. Candidates must have a current Working with Children Check (or be willing to obtain one) & be willing to provide proof of vaccination for COVID-19.
