Our client, a thriving 100% family-owned and fabricated organisation in the manufacturing sector, is expanding their team and is currently seeking a skilled 'Mechanical Design Draftsperson' to join them.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a career-changing opportunity to enhance your design expertise by immersing yourself in our client's market-leading concepts, design, testing, and manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Design Team Leader, you'll play a pivotal role in their expansion into larger engineering projects. 

Your key areas of responsibility will include:

• Create 2D and 3D models using Creo drafting software.
• Ensure accurate and timely production of 3D models / Engineering Drawings / Shop Drawings.
• Creating ‘Bill of Materials’.
• Ensuring attention to every detail on every project.
• Following QA process to ensure consistent quality output.
• Apply your knowledge of Australian standards and drafting principles effectively.
• Support the Design Team through sharing your knowledge and experience for opportunities of process improvement.
• Communicate efficiently and effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

ABOUT YOU

You are highly skilled and passionate about new technological developments, with a genuine interest in and passion for the heavy vehicle industry. You demonstrate adaptability, versatility, and a willingness to tackle challenging tasks as our client innovates to enhance their business and venture into new projects.

To be successful, you will need:

• Qualifications: You possess the relevant engineering or design qualifications.
• Proficient in Mechanical Design Drafting: Creating 2D & 3D models, engineering drawings, and bill of materials while adhering to QA processes.
• Experience with 3D Modeling Software: Preferably Creo, but training can be provided for Inventor or Solidworks.
• Familiarity with Australian Standards: Thorough understanding of drafting, welding, and heavy steel fabrication standards.
• Ideally you have worked in the Transport Industry, such as Semi-Trailers 
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Willing to collaborate and share resources with your team.
• Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Committed to continuous improvement and striving for efficient outcomes.

Highly Desirable:

• Previous experience in the road transport industry.
• Design drafting experience in similar streams of heavy manufacturing.
• Knowledge of lean techniques and Identifying cost saving strategies.
