On behalf of our client, a global green solutions business, we are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer - 6MW to join their team on a 6 month contract.
This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to design the clients Heavy Mobile Equipment Fast Charging facility, meeting industry standards and regulations. You will be responsible for designing and developing the Mechanical systems using SolidWorks and SiemensNX.Roles and Responsibilities include:
- System Design: Design and develop the 3D design model of incorporating electricalsystems including power distribution, control, auxiliary and robotic systems.
- Detailed Engineering Design: Interpret detailed electrical schematics and wiring diagramsand translate the information to 3D space.
- Integration: Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineers tointegrate electrical systems seamlessly into the overall design.
- Cost Management: Assist in cost estimation for components and systems, optimizingdesigns for cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality.
- Testing and Troubleshooting: Participate in the testing and troubleshooting of electricalsystems, identifying and resolving issues during prototype and production phases.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of mechanical and electricaldesigns, changes, and revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
- CAD Proficiency: Utilise Siemens NX, SolidWorks and AutoCAD software proficiently fordrafting, modelling, and creating 2D and 3D drawings.
- CAD Management: Support the buildup of comprehensive CAD assemblies with 5000+parts whilst adhering to product data management processes in workflows.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, includingmechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software developers, and project managers to
ensure project success. - Quality Assurance: Ensure that all electrical & Mechanical Designs adhere to qualitystandards and are aligned with project objectives.
- Mechanical engineering degree.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in design & drafting in 2D and 3D space.
- Exposure in designing at a concept level to quickly mock up designs, as well as full detailed design with full production and assembly detail.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX preferable, otherwise SolidWorks and AutoCAD for Mechanical Design.
- Strong understanding of electrical & mechanical engineering principles and practices.
- Knowledge of battery electric vehicle and charging systems is desirable.
- Sound knowledge of Design for Manufacture & Design for Assembly.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to Rail and Locomotives highly regarded.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to work autonomously.
