Mechanical Design Engineer / Draftsperson

A German based company employing more than 1000 people internationally we are one of the world leaders in our industry. We are seeking an Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer/Draftsperson.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create detailed CAD Models and Drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Collaborate with Team members to understand project requirements and specifications.
- Incorporate machining and welding details into Mechanical Designs, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards.
- Design and interpret Hydraulic Systems and Circuitry.
- Generate Bill of Materials (BOMs) and assist in material selection for fabrication and assembly.
- Support the Production department by creating Production Orders where required.
- Conduct design reviews and provide technical support to manufacturing and assembly teams.
- Perform tolerance analysis and ensure designs meet functional and performance requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source materials and components for projects.
- Stay updated with industry trends, advancements in machining and welding technologies, and relevant codes and standards.
- Understand manufacturing processes and look for opportunities to simplify design for efficient manufacture.
Qualifications / Key Requirements:
- Must have great communication skills.
- Tertiary Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Draftsman/Designer or Design Engineer, preferably within a Manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience with steel fabrication and heavy industry equipment design, modelling, and drafting. Experience in a workshop environment advantageous.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Solidedge and/or Creo Preferable)
- Experience using ERP systems, preferably SAP or Momentum Pro
- Experience in the use of Creo interface with SAP PLM would be advantageous however not essential.
- Experience in the use of FEA would be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, welding techniques, and fabrication methods.
- A good understanding of Hydraulic Systems, Circuitry and Hydraulic Cylinder Manufacture would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes related to Mechanical Design and manufacturing.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Experience within the Materials handling Sector and/or Hydraulic Attachment industry would be advantageous however not essential.
