Mechanical Engineer - Botany

Your role 

It is an exciting time to join our business as we continue along our journey of ongoing expansion, change, and transformation. Through continued growth we are currently searching for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Botany team at our ChlorAlkali plant.

This role is responsible for leading mechanical maintenance at our Botany site and ensure compliance with applicable internal and regulatory standards.

Your responsibilities

• Ensure your work activities, and those of your team, comply with the requirements set under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its associated regulations as well as Ixom's SMS (Safety Management System).
• Develop and maintain a motivated team that can safely deliver the maintenance strategies, including planned and unplanned maintenance with a view to continually improving efficiency, cost effectiveness and plant reliability, taking action that will prevent re-occurrence of failures.
• Support your team to provide a professional level of customer service that meets the business' needs
• Manage critical plant and equipment to ensure safe operation and regulatory compliance
• Ensure your team develops, communicates and executes maintenance plans
• Contribute to the development and execution of the mechanical maintenance budget
• Contribute to the development and execution of the sustenance capital plan, including year ahead and 10-year plan

Your skills & experience

• Tertiary qualified in Mechanical Engineering
• Leadership ability with previous experience managing a team to achieve business goals, mentoring and developing team members is desirable
• Hands-on experience maintaining a continuous process plant in a heavy industrial industry such as chemical, oil & gas, paper and pulp.
• Strong safety first mindset and experience with safe systems of work including; permit to work, management of change, incident investigation, hazard studies, etc.
• Experience with mechanical design and modifications in an industrial setting.
• Demonstrated experience working in a multidisciplinary, multi level environment to achieve successful business outcomes.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements associated with MHF legislation.
• Working knowledge of standards and codes of practice relevant to mechanical design and maintenance
• Have a proactive attitude and a self-motivated approach
• Strong interpersonal awareness with the ability to work well as part of a team
