We are seeking an experienced, motivated and organized individual, to join our estimating team and to support the sales team selling the HMA Wear Solutions products across the mining and industrial industries in Australia, New Zealand, PNG, Indonesia, South Africa and South America. We are recognised as a market leader in this field and have been supplying and manufacturing specialised ceramic wear resistant linings and systems in Australia for over 40 years
THE ROLE
Based in our Mackay, QLD office and reporting to the National Sales Manager, the key objectives of this position will be to assist the Sales Manager in supporting the greater estimating and sales team by managing all needs in the estimating department in a timely fashion.
You will possess experience in a similar estimating role, ideally in a fabrication environment, and be able to use your technical expertise to estimate, support and provide product selection to the sales team and our customers. This is a position for somebody who desires increased challenge, responsibility and the opportunity to make it their own.
You should have a sound knowledge of First Principles Estimating and be confident in undertaking the following tasks;
- Reviewing tender documentation to determine scope and specific terms and conditions
- Quantity take off from engineering drawings
- Estimates and quotations from our internal estimating tools
- Ability to demonstration tender and proposal management;
- Preparation of scope of works from consultant packages, sub-contractor packages and procurement schedules
- Issue, review, negotiate and select, sub-contractor and supplier using a thorough tender process from our approved vendor lists
- Administration of project documentation to and from clients, consultants, sub-contractors and suppliers
- Reporting to the management team of the business
To be successful candidates will have the following skills and attributes;
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience as an Estimator and/or Contracts Administrator
- Experience in steel fabrication and/or piping products
- An overall professional management and administration ability
- Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret drawings for take off purposes
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to build relationships with the sales team and customers alike
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
- Ability to co-ordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong time management skills
- Ample initiative and strong problem solving skills
- High numerical and abstract reasoning skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer literacy with a high level of proficiency in the full Microsoft suite.
- Mechanical Trade, Engineering Certificate or Technical Experience relevant to engineering disciplines
- Must be an Australian permanent resident or citizen
