Central Coast Council is the third largest water utility (or water and sewage service) in NSW servicing 139,000 homes and businesses in a growing region.

As the Mechanical Project Manager, you will be responsible for the overall project management for the planning, installation, contract management, commissioning, and asset management associated with water pumping stations, sewage pump stations, treatment plants and all other mechanical aspects for the Central Coast Council’s Water and Sewer infrastructure.

This will be achieved through managing project teams that deliver service and infrastructure projects, to achieve the desired social, economic, and environmental outcomes for Central Coast Council.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Key activities of this role include:

  • Direct responsibility for the management and delivery of a wide range of projects including capital works and operational projects
  • Accurately deliver project feasibility, schedules, estimates, investigation, and design services. Ensure projects are fully documented including design, funding, quotations, safety plans, risk mitigation controls in accordance with Project Life Cycle framework
  • Develop cashflow forecasting and monitor utilising Project Life Cycle Frameworks and monthly traffic light reporting
  • Develop, technically advise and monitor on By-Pass management and commissioning requirements
  • Develop and manage standardisation of mechanical equipment and components across the directorate and work closely with all sections in regards to operational and maintenance requirements

About you:

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in Project Management
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence
  • Valid Construction General Induction card - NSW SafeWork or equivalent or willing to obtain

This role provides a commencing salary range of between $96.3k to $115.5k per annum dependent on skills and experience + 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance + 11% superannuation.

A leaseback vehicle is provided in this role for official duties and private use and your choice of vehicle will be provided when one becomes available in accordance with Council’s Vehicle Policy. In the meantime, either an alternate pre-used vehicle or a vehicle allowance of $200 per week ($10,450 per annum) is temporarily applied for this position due to ongoing issues with supply for new vehicles.

A 9 day fortnight work-cycle currently applies to this role with flexible/hybrid working arrangements available.

Successful candidates may be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
