About the role:
The Climate Media Centre is looking for a Media Advisor to join the team on a 12-month contract. In this role you will help identify great media opportunities, support a wonderful group of people to get their voices heard in the media and be a great team player who is involved in executing media plans, delivering training, and supporting spokespeople.
The Climate Media Centre (CMC) connects journalists with powerful stories of people and places affected by climate today, as well as inspiring stories of progress and smart solutions.
We plan and execute media opportunities aligned to our purpose - empowering and inspiring trusted voices to drive the further and faster cuts to climate pollution we need. The CMC:
- Finds and trains new voices who matter in critical policy debates;
- Empowers and elevates a chorus of voices that can speak about the solutions we need; and
- Acts as a trusted communications advisor, and connector.
This is a fixed term, full-time, 12-month role working 38 hours a week, with the ability to work outside of normal business hours as required. We are open to flexible work options, so let us know how you like to work.
We are open to considering shorter-term contracts for the suitable applicant.
As a Media Advisor within the Climate Media Centre at the Climate Council you will:
- Have proven experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders;
- Have a good understanding of the Australian media and political landscapes;
- Have 1-4 years experience as a Media Advisor, or within a similar role;
- Be able to work in a responsive and reactive environment and think on your feet.
