Media and Communications Advisor, National Catholic Education Commission (NCEC)

The National Catholic Education Commission is seeking a highly motivated Media and Communications Advisor for a full-time role located in Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra.

The National Catholic Education Commission (NCEC) aims to be a strong advocate for Catholic schools. The NCEC is well regarded for its ability to support strategic objectives by collaborating effectively with all its stakeholders and demonstrating education policy  leadership.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Relevant post-secondary qualifications in communications and / or a related field
• A minimum of two years’ demonstrated experience in a media role and delivering integrated Media and Communications plans
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated competency in using Microsoft Office, content management systems e.g. WordPress, Google Analytics, and social media
• Experience in Canva, Indesign and / or Photoshop desirable
• Ability to be proactive, manage competing priorities and be responsive to deadlines

Key responsibilities: 

• Contribute to the development of a robust stakeholder engagement and Communications plan for the NCEC
• Effective media management and advice to the Executive Director including responding to media enquiries (including after hours) and establishing and maintaining relationships with media
• Develop a proactive and responsive media engagement plan including the development of key positioning messages
• Monitor and identify daily media issues, and relevant education and government alerts
• Maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to communicate NCEC priorities, advocacy, programs and initiatives
• Research and write a range of executive messages, briefings, media releases, editorial and stakeholder communications
• Manage editorial and content for NCEC communications channels (websites, social media, and e-blast) including a content, moderation and engagement strategy and reporting on analytics for communications channels
• Support the development of publications, case studies and other communications materials
