Medical Receptionist - Permanent Part-Time

We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable person to join our friendly reception team.

This is a part-time front desk position in a busy general practice  Regular rostered hours will be from Wednesday to Friday.  The ability to be flexible with working hours is desirable. 

Responsibilities include:

• Meeting and greeting patients and their families in a caring and compassionate manner
• Answering phones, taking accurate messages and directing queries promptly.
• Receive payments and issue invoices/receipts using specialist medical software and Tyro
• Record appointments and data entry - accuracy essential
• Liaise with GPs, colleagues, specialists and allied health professionals 
• Manage incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and ensure distribution to the correct persons
• General office duties as applicable to a busy general practice
• Maintain strict confidentiality

The role is busy with varied day-to-day administrative and maintenance tasks. 

You will need to think on your feet and remain calm and polite in stressful situations.

Adherence to the practice Policy & Procedure Policies is essential.  

Essential Criteria:

• Previous experience working in a medical practice
• Computer literacy
• A high level of professionalism and confidentiality
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail
• Ability to communicate with a diverse range of people and personalities
• Ability to work independently, show initiative, and work productively within a team environment
• Professional manner, compassionate, articulate, and well-presented
• Previous experience with the use of medical software (e.g. Best Practice)
• Knowledge of Medicare Item Numbers and applications
• Knowledge of the Australian healthcare system
• Must be available to work on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
