The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity to join the medical affairs department in the role of a National Senior Medical Science Liaison/Medical Science Liaison (MSL/Snr MSL). CSL Behring has an exciting pipeline of products in development and is continuing to grow its Medical team to support this challenge.
As a Medical Science Liaison, the main objective will be to maximise the value proposition and help shape the market for CSL Behring products, including treatments for rare diseases. This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.
At CSL, the MSL role is highly valued, and you will be a high performing integral business partner valued for medical excellence and integrity. In this critical fully field-based role, you will proactively build strong, high-quality relationships with key external medical experts in the designated therapeutic area. You will provide and gather scientific insights to/from external stakeholders, and translate data into clear, compelling scientific messages and strategic medical activities. By investing in relationships and through your knowledge, expertise and insights, you will enhance CSL's reputation and support successful commercialisation of novel pipeline products.
The Role
Reporting to the Associate Medical Director, you will also be responsible for:
- Developing and driving strategic external engagements with KOLs and other relevant stakeholders to effectively execute medical brand plans.
- Providing medical and scientific insights to support the strategic direction of the medical activities and brand team.
- Taking a leadership role for conferences and publications.
- Disseminating knowledge and sharing information as appropriate (within compliance guidelines) including through internal and external presentations
- Developing and maintaining scientific knowledge and therapeutic disease expertise for designated products, competitors and relevant treatment guidelines.
- Leading the review and approval process for grant requests and investigator-initiated study proposals from external stakeholders as required.
- Maintaining a high level of knowledge of the Medicines Australia (MA) Code of Conduct including completion of Module 1 Medicines Australia Continuing Education Program if applicable.
What we are looking for
- Minimum 3 years' prior pharmaceutical experience, preferably as a Medical Science liaison.
- Therapeutic area knowledge in Haematology or rare haematological bleeding disorders, preferred.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as medicine, pharmacology, pharmacy, nursing or Haematology (a PhD in a relevant field would be highly regarded).
As this role requires you to have effective working relationships with a range of external and internal stakeholders, you will need to be able to demonstrate well-developed interpersonal and organisational skills, an ability to leverage scientific and medical knowledge, be self-motivated, work independently and have sound negotiation, influencing and leadership skills. Flexibility to travel is essential.
