A position exists for a motivated Medical Secretary.
The successful applicant will assist with the administrative functions of a busy orthopaedic foot & ankle surgeon’s practice plus podiatry rehabilitation service, based at St John of God Murdoch Hospital and Hollywood Private Hospital.
It is the mission of our practice to provide a boutique surgical service and deliver an outstanding standard of care. Every patient journey is unique and as such we require an empathetic individual who can use their initiative to assist with problem solving and ensure that every patient’s experience is a positive one.
This position is mainly based at Wexford Medical Centre, St John of God Murdoch Hospital, with one day every month being at Hollywood Medical Centre, Hollywood Private Hospital.
This position is part-time for 2 days a week or a 5 day fortnight (days negotiable), and you will work closely with our senior full-time practice manager, secretary, practice nurse and podiatrist.
Principle duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Communication - providing a high standard of written, phone and email communication to our patients and referrers
- Clinic Assistance - greeting patients and helping manage clinic flow
- Consultation and Surgical booking - ensuring a high standard of accuracy
- General Interaction - liaising with patients, referrers and other medical/podiatry staff in a personal and professional manner
- Patient Logistics - organising and following up patients' referrals, x-rays and other scans, and general patient issues & enquiries
Selection criteria:
- Bright, engaging personality
- Willingness to learn and be challenged
- Strong general computing skills (ideally including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Records Software ie Genie)
- High level of professionalism
- Eager to contribute innovative ideas to help build and evolve the practice
- Experience working in a dynamic, fast paced administrative role
- Previous medical or allied health experience is desirable but not essential
