A lovely opportunity is opening for a compassionate, patient focused FT Medical Secretary to join our very busy, private Obstetrics and Gynaecology practice. We are located in North Melbourne, opposite the Hospital Hub.
As the first point of contact, you will be responsible, dedicated and take pride for welcoming patients into our care. You will be working in a team consisting of an Practice manager, four midwives and four secretaries who support more than ten specialists/allied health practitioners.
Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
*Answering incoming calls (our phones do not stop ringing!)
*Patient enquiries and booking appointments
*Meeting and greeting patients
*Managing the day to day billings and patient accounts including financial consent and payment arrangements
*Hospital bookings, pre op preparation and quoting
*Maintaining patient records
*Providing administrative support to medical practitioners and management team
To be successful in the role your experience will align with the following skill sets;
*Empathetic, able to care about patients with dignity and respect
*Experience in busy specialist practice or medical clinic, preferably O&G (multiple Dr’s an advantage) (highly regarded)
*Experience using Genie software and Mac (preffered)
*Excellent customer service skills
*Be able to work within a team to deliver a very high standard of patient care
*Good IT skills, able to perform intermediate level word processing
*Ability to work as a contributing team member and independently when required
*Self motivated, friendly nature and enthusiastic about patient and team care
*Strong organisational skills, with a high level of attention to detail
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*Effective time management skills
*A flexible and willing attitude
*Participate in a quarterly rotating task roster
*The ability to cope well under pressure and to learn quickly on the go.

Hours of work are FT 38 hours per week.
The office is open between 8am and 5:30pm Monday - Thursday and 8am - 4:30pm Friday. Flexibility to participate in a rotating roster within these hours is required.
Weekend work not required (Hooray!)
