YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE

The position is due to commence 1 May 2024, to provide high quality psychiatric services to Clinical Liaisons and outpatient work of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre including primary and secondary consultation, and liaison with treating services.

Contribute to a vibrant research programme and enhance the stature of the institute. Participate in education, including medical students, and supervision and mentorship of psychiatry trainees Provide clinical support to members of the multidisciplinary team.

Skills

Essential Requirements:

  • Medical Qualifications registrable by AHPRA
  • Specialist post graduate qualifications in psychiatry
  • Appropriate clinical experience post higher qualification
  • Demonstrable relevant experience in medical education at undergraduate and post graduate levels
  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with medical staff and other disciplines
  • Superior communication skills including consultative, interpersonal, negotiation and report writing

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience in Liaison Psychiatry, specifically oncology
  • RANZCP Certificate Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry

  • Assists other specialists on planning and delivery of multi-modal treatment
  • Attends patients
  • Supports the delivery of high quality treatment for referred patients and their families

  • Actively and regularly participates in peer review patient related activities
  • Participates in Institute Quality Assurance activities
  • Develops appropriate Treatment Policy Guidelines
  • Responds to referrals within an appropriate time frame

2.Supervises and trains registrars,residents, medical students, nursing and allied health staff and participates in other educational activities

  • Participates in hospital wide educational programs, including affiliated organisation’s programs
  • Ensures appropriate supervision of psychiatry trainees

3.Promotes the interests of the Institute

  • Contributes to relevant professional organisations
  • Expertise is recognised locally and nationally
  • Publishes work in appropriate journals and publications)
  • Contributes to the Institute’s goals by developing and achieving unit goals
  • Works effectively with internal and external stakeholders
