The Role
The Melanoma Nurse Coordinator will provide expert nursing care, clinical advice, care coordination and navigation support to patients, nurses, and other health care professionals with regards to high risk and advanced melanoma.
The Specialist Melanoma Nurse is an advanced practice nursing role that incorporates high level clinical service, care coordination, navigation support, clinical leadership, research, education and management to optimise patient outcomes. The Specialist Melanoma Nurse will be expected to work predominantly within the treatment settings for patients with advanced and high-risk melanoma, and will support across the continuum. The Specialist Melanoma Nurse will work closely with the Dermatologists, Plastic and General Surgeons, Medical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Nursing and Allied health and the Skin Multidisciplinary team (MDT) as a key part of the treatment team to provide care aligned with the Melanoma optimal care pathway (OCP).
The Melanoma Nurse Coordinator will be based within the Oncology unit of the Cancer Centre, providing expert care across the following areas of Bendigo Health to include: plastics/ specialists' skin clinics, chemotherapy unit, oncology clinics, radiotherapy, palliative care, inpatient wards and other services as required. Hours 8.30 - 5pm, three days per week. The role will report to the Nurse Unit Manager - Cancer Services.
