About your opportunity
Permanent full-time position available
The Mental Health Act Advisor will provide expert advice to senior health professionals within the Townsville Network Authorised Mental Health Service with respect to the administration of the Queensland Mental Health Act 2016.
They will Develop, implement, review and maintain internal systems, processes and work practices to identify areas for improvement and recommend and implement enhancements to existing practices in relation to the administration of the Queensland Mental Health Act 2016 across the Townsville Network.
Skills and experience:
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge and/or, the ability to rapidly acquire extensive knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act 2016 and other relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and operationalise the Mental Health Act 2016 through a combined legal, operational, and clinical lens.
- Demonstrated ability to work largely unsupervised whilst setting your own goals and workloads to meet rigid deadlines whilst also working as part of a team and supervising subordinate staff.
- Demonstrated ability to provide system training, training on the Mental Health Act 2016, develop lesson plans and be able to interpret individual learning needs whilst identifying necessary impact and potential changes to work practices.
Generous remuneration package value up to $144,003 p.a. comprising:
- Salary range of $117,824 to $126,212 p.a. (AO6)
- Annual leave with 17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements
- While not it is not mandatory legal experience is desirable and can be advantageous.
- This position requires the incumbent to operate a class “C” motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
