This Merchandise Planner will be responsible for effectively managing the open-to-buy and inventory flow within the business to meet agreed targets for our Australian region. You will work to identify opportunities that increase stock availability for our clients and reduce out-of-stock and markdowns through effective planning and distribution of products.
Collaborating closely with cross-functional departments, including Buying, Brand, and content, as well as Retail Operations, you will bring a keen eye for data analytics and consumer insights to influence product strategies and make a significant impact on our growth.
Merchandise Planner Responsibilities:
- Plan and manage the open-to-buy process for the Australian region.
- Develop allocation plans by product line based on inventory and store needs.
- Forecast and update plans based on sales trends.
- Review sales, stock, and sell-through in season to identify risks and opportunities to business and recommend strategies to achieve financial goals.
- Work with key teams to prioritise orders through receiving, production, and shipping when necessary to protect sales trends and inventory levels in stores.
- Act on slow-moving lines to ensure business exposure to underperforming inventory is mitigated.
- Conducts in-depth End of Season analysis and provides insights into region and category trading performance.
- Performs regular SWOT analysis in conjunction with the Buying and Planning team to identify key areas of opportunity.
- Manage the markdown process.
- Oversee daily stock management of allocations, consolidations, markdowns, and replenishment with the Allocators.
- Coordinate store stock builds to meet requirements and communicate relevant information to all stakeholders.
What you will bring to the role:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or several years of working experience in the Retail industry in a similar role.
- Advanced analytical skill set and thought process.
- Experience meeting targets and working to tight deadlines.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, Retail Math, and a high attention to detail are required.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organisation skills, detail-oriented and ability to multitask
- Flexible and agile, able to quickly and effectively change priorities and direction based on business needs.
- A team player who is effective in collaborating with key stakeholders to achieve team objectives
