This is a tier 2 position. This is a full-time continuing teaching appointment, with an initial three-year appointment as Curriculum Leader. Two subsequent three-year appointments as Curriculum Leader will be offered following a successful performance review.As Middle Leader – HPE & Sport, you will be responsible for:
- Leading teachers engaged in the HPE & Sport learning area to develop, review and create curriculum and teaching and learning opportunities that are age appropriate and meet the specific needs of students at St Josephs College.
- Leading the development of a scope and sequence 7-12 to ensure clear understandings of teaching and learning goals across each year level and in each phase of learning, ensuring our Middle Years students are fully prepared for the Senior Years.
- Leading the development, review and response of the Senior Years curriculum as outlined by QCAA
- Leading development of contemporary practice and pedagogy that will engage students in the Arts Learning Area.
- Leading the development of contemporary assessment, and data analysis to ensure all students are learning and achieving to their potential, using the Colleges positive feedback loop and 5Rs approach.
- Leading the Professional Goal process for each staff member as required by BCE through the Growth Coaching model.Induction of new teachers within the HPE and Sport learning area to ensure delivery of the Colleges non-negotiables and the principles of the Graduate Statement in every classroom.
- Pastoral care of staff engaged in the HPE and Sport Learning area, ensuring members of the team feel supported.
- Leading and developing processes and procedures within the team for moderation of assessment against the Australian curriculum standards and ensuring our students are achieving one year of growth per year in each year level.
- Create a nurturing and ordered learning environment which is learner-centred, safe, supportive, co-operative and aligned with relevant curriculum, policies and practices
- Collaborate with your peers to develop and implement quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy
- Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
- Work with the school leadership team and colleagues to contribute to the professional life of the school
- Proactively engage with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes
- Ensure that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching.
- Strong literacy, numeracy and digital literacy practices plus a clear understanding of the Australian Curriculum
- Commitment to child safety
- Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven organisational skills
- Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to achieve the best outcomes
- Demonstrated competence against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers across professional knowledge, practice and engagement.
- Hold a current Queensland College of Teachers registration; and
- Be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
