Job description

Join Our Trailblazing Team: Middle Years Teacher

At Global Village Learning (formerly Gisborne Montessori School), we are more than just a school; we are creating a movement. Under the leadership of Peter Hutton, we are pioneering a shift towards a more personalized, student-empowered, and future-focused education. Situated on 10 acres amidst the picturesque Macedon Ranges, our campus is a vibrant ecosystem of learning, growth, and innovation.

Who We Are Looking For:

We're on the hunt for one possibly two enthusiastic, innovative Middle Years Teachers who are passionate about reimagining education. Ideally, you're in the early stages of your teaching career, with up to 5 years of experience, and have a burning desire to explore and implement progressive educational practices. If you’re thinking “there must be more to education that the traditional system offers” you might have found your next gig.

Your Role:

  • Innovate and Inspire: Bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to our Middle Years' program.  Your creativity will help shape personalised programs for young people that are as dynamic and diverse as our community of young people.
  • Empower and Engage: At GVL, we believe in the power of relationships. Your ability to connect with, motivate, and inspire young learners will be at the heart of your role.
  • Collaborate and Grow: Join a team of dedicated educators and have the chance to engage with some of the world's leading educational thinkers. Your professional development is our priority, supported by a tight knit team of fellow Guides.
  • Lead with Passion: Our learning community is moving towards being learner led and adult-supported. Your leadership will empower our young people to take charge of their learning and play an active role in their community.

Why GVL?

  • A beautiful 10-acre campus near Mt. Macedon, offering a blend of academic and nature-based learning.
  • An opportunity to be part of a significant educational transformation, contributing to a global movement of progressive educators both in Australia and globally.
  • A supportive, inclusive, and caring community where every member's well-being is a priority.
  • Hot, nutritious lunches are provided for all young people and their Guides, fostering a sense of community and well-being and young people are directly involved in the preparation, serving and clean up.

Join Us:

If you're ready to be part of a team that values innovation, cares deeply for each other, and is at the forefront of educational transformation, we want to hear from you.

  • We are in a position to build on your talents, and can incorporate a range of teaching methods, but a passion and interest for PE, Outdoor Education, or Design Technology would be particularly advantageous.
  • Experience or training in working with neurodiverse youth would also be an advantage.

Application Process:

Please send your current CV and a cover letter explaining why you're the perfect fit for Global Village. If you are feeling brave, a short video would also be awesome, but definitely not required. Email: Peter Hutton at ****@gvl.vic.edu.au.

Let's create a future where education is not just about learning but about thriving. Together, we can make a difference.
