About Meandu
BUMA Australia provides a total mine service to Stanwell Corporation's Meandu Mine to deliver coal to the adjacent Tarong power station. We are responsible for both managing and operating the mine.
Services provided include planning, drilling, overburden removal, coal mining, coal processing, rehabilitation, and maintenance of mobile and fixed plant. The project uses a combination of dragline and truck-and shovel operations. Meandu Mine currently has five working pits, with sufficient coal to fuel the stations until at least 2037.
Job description:
We are seeking a Production Manager to join our Meandu team, leading production to achieve outstanding results in safety, culture, productivity and efficiency.
Reporting to the Project Manager SSE your key responsibilities will include:
- Promote a people first approach, with a key focus on safety and encouraging a positive culture
- Ensuring continuous maximisation of coal recovery and minimising grade dilution during the mining process
- Maintaining a high level of safety awareness of all employees and contractors
- Managing the production on site by optimising plans, methods, equipment, schedules and expenditure
- Ensuring ongoing effective people management of the crew by setting clear performance objectives, providing regular feedback and development for employees through training and skills development
- Complying with safety policies and procedures
- Communicating with the workforce regarding compliance to plans and production targets and communicating variances to those targets
About You
Working at BUMA
Profile description:
- 5-10 years leadership experience in the coal mining industry
- Tertiary Qualifications in Mining or complimentary field such as Engineering
- SSE Ticket not essential but desired
- Extensive knowledge and experience in managing mining operations to consistently achieve KPIs.
- Demonstrated ability in decision making, organisational skills, leadership skills and applying Risk Management techniques.
- Advanced level of computer literacy and the ability to analyse mining performance data to achieve continuous improvement.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to liaise with staff and external stakeholders at all levels
