About the Position:
Role:Mortuary Technician / Funeral Assistant / Conductor
Location: South Eastern Suburbs Melbourne
Type: Full Time
What you will do:
- Assisting with the Transfer of deceased from Hospital's or Coroner Office
- Perform body preparation procedures such as maneuvering, lifting, washing, dressing, suturing and make up / setting of facial features
- Encoffin the deceased into their coffin or casket
- Assisting Funeral Arrangers at funeral services
- Driving Funeral Hearse in Cortege &/or to and from Funeral Services
- Cleaning hearses and transfer vehicle
- General assistance around the funeral home
- Ensuring funeral vehicles are clean and packed with all necessary equipment
- Warmly greeting and welcoming all family members and funeral mourners at a funeral service
- Organise time efficiently and monitor daily workflow
- Participate in day-to-day operational tasks such as attending funerals, transfers, viewings, driving vehicles and keeping work areas clean and tidy
- Have strong attention to detail and the ability to follow direction
Position Requirements:

- Organisational Skills: Attending funeral services, managing paperwork, and ensuring smooth operations demand strong organisational abilities.
- Communication Skills: Clear and empathetic communication is vital when interacting with both clients and the internal team.
- Flexible: Plans can change for the day needing a flexible attitude to adjust and continue.
- Can Do Attitude: The ability to fix the issue and get the show back on the road.
- Physically Fit: Physically fit for the demands of the role.
- Drivers Licence: Valid driver's license and ability to work independently
- Previous Experience in Mortuary / Funeral Industry Required
- Be a committed team player but also able to work independently
- An understanding of the funeral service industry and its operations, or ability to rapidly acquire industry knowledge
- The ability to work professionally with a wide variety of people and cultures, showing respect and empathy.
- Sensitivity, along with comfort to circumstances involving grieving people, and their values and beliefs.
- Be at ease working within a funeral, cemetery and crematoria environment
