We are seeking an experienced Fleet Manager who understands the dynamics and complexities of working within a large national company. The Fleet Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the management of the company’s fleet vehicles ( including mobile plant and equipment), and offer strategic guidance, proven leadership and operational support on all fleet-related matters to stakeholders.
The Fleet Manager is committed to delivering top-tier fleet management services, supporting a broad spectrum of infrastructure assets with a practical approach to driving the success of fleet operations. This role reports into the Group Safety Manager.
Role Responsibilities include:
- Fleet Leadership and Management: Spearhead all aspects of the company’s vehicle fleet, including the formulation and execution of policies and procedures. Ensure the fleet services operate efficiently and effectively to maximize the use of group resources.
- Expert Guidance: Serve as the primary authority on fleet management, providing expert advice on fleet operations, compliance with FBT, and fleet contracts. Ensure all stakeholders are well-informed and adhere to relevant policies and regulations.
- Supplier and Service Negotiation: Handle negotiations with suppliers and service providers to secure the best value contracts that meet the group’s operational needs and strategic goals.
- Best Practices Implementation: Collaborate with stakeholders and industry experts to research, evaluate, and implement best practices in fleet asset procurement, management, and disposal. Maintain up-to-date standards and guidelines across the group.
- Records and Compliance Management: Oversee the documentation, tracking systems, and policies for the vehicle fleet to ensure practices are efficient, well-documented, auditable, and in compliance with policies and legislative requirements.
- Strategic Reporting and Analysis: Prepare detailed reports and conduct high-level analyses on strategic and operational fleet issues to support the adoption of best practices and aid executive decision-making.
- 2+ years in a logistics role.
- Extensive experience in fleet management in a complex organisation, including an understanding of relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in achieving best value outcomes in the acquisition, operations, maintenance and disposal of fleet assets, including contemporary experience in fleet management systems and their application.
- An understanding of tendering and contracts
- Proven ability to communicate and negotiate successfully with all levels of stakeholders staff and clients, including the completion of specifications, contracts, and regular fleet reporting
- A current Driver’s Licence
- Experience in the transportation/ construction / manufacturing industry.
- Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.
