The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic National Manager, Precontracts to join their team. This role is pivotal in leading and managing the precontracts process, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality bids and proposals that align with their strategic objectives.
The manager to this role is the GM of Infrastructure & Projects. The National Manager, Precontracts will have 3 – 4 direct reports including – Bid Manager, Proposals Manager, Estimating Manager and potentially a Business Development Manager.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the precontracts team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture,
- Oversee the entire bid process from initial inquiry through to contract award, including bid strategy, preparation, and submission,
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, partners, and subcontractors, to develop strong relationships and understand project requirements,
- Identify and manage risks associated with bids and proposals, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards,
- Develop and review cost estimates, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness,
- Provide commercial insight and advice during the bid process, including pricing strategies and contract negotiations,
- Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the precontracts function.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant professional qualification is a plus,
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a similar role within the utilities, energy, or construction sectors,
- Proven track record of successful bid management and contract negotiation,
- Experience working for the contractor/service provider would be highly advantageous,
- A diplomatic, collaborative and enabling management style,
- Must live/work/reside in QLD/AU. Must have full working AU rights.
