The RoleThe Safety Manager is responsible for supporting sites across the business in the mitigation of risk, covering all aspects of health, safety and wellbeing, to ensure the organisation meets its legal obligations as well as providing a safe and healthy workplace for all team members:
- Drive and cultivate a safety first culture, whilst also fostering a continuous improvement mindset
- Ensure the identification, mitigation and management of safety risks are discussed with the Chief Operating Officer on a regular basis
- Work collaboratively across all stakeholders and employees on opportunities to develop and improve safety initiatives
- Ensure each site has a safety compliance plan developed with State Managers, and that it is also in accordance with workplace safety legislation
- Identify areas of improvement and provide coaching to teams to rectify identified gaps
- Ensure there is a system where all incidents are investigated and appropriate action plans identified and implemented
- Manage external relationships with Regulators
- Identify training needs and develop/source appropriate materials ensuring effective implementation and ongoing maintenance
- Ensure the provision of injury management system and activities to achieve a safe return to pre-injury duties
Your Background
In order to be successful in this role, you will:
- Tertiary qualifications in workplace health and safety and/or risk management
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a similar position
- Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing a safety management system across multiple states while considering commercially viable and practical solutions
- Experience in the transport and/or logistics and food industries highly desirable
- Comprehensive knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety Legislation
- Experience in successfully returning injured employees to work
- Skilled in coaching others to achieve desired results and drive behavioural change
