Our Environmental Operations Branch are seeking a Team Leader for their high-performing Natural Areas team who will prepare and implement strategic service planning across the extensive Natural Areas estate, including the development of technical documents relating to ecological offsets and vegetation management. The position is accountable for managing developing and ongoing operation of Natural Areas contracts, quality management programmes and monitoring compliance. The successful incumbent will investigate third party requests, providing expert advice to resolve these within service level agreements. You will lead the creation, integration and application of customer and asset management systems and also monitor and report on the effectiveness of natural area programs. The Team Leader will be responsible for facilitating positive partnerships and working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including industry & community groups.
As a requirement of the role, you will:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to a team of skilled officers in the implementation of Natural Areas management
- Prepare correspondence, reports, briefing notes, and information documents as an authorised officer
- Undertake administration, planning and reporting, including regular liaison with the Natural Areas leadership team, regarding performance targets
- Prepare and implement service planning and develop budgets that support operational management programmes
- Investigate and provide expert advice in relation to third party requests for activities on Council managed lands and on contributed assets
About you
As an environmental enthusiast, you hold an Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or relevant experience in the workplace.. Complementing this are your expertise in developing & managing large maintenance contracts, service planning & asset management for bushland and conservation areas. Your knowledge of the related legislation, policies, procedures and standards of Natural Areas Management will be greatly utilised in this role.
You have highly developed communication skills and an ability to build collaborative and effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
Pivotal to this position are strong organisational skills to manage multiple competing priorities, paired with the ability to problem solve, examine complex problems & develop innovative strategies. You will be confident communicating at all levels of Council as well as acting as an advisor with external agencies, utilising consultation, negotiation and conflict resolution where required.
Your digital literacy is imperative for your success particularly in the use of geographic information systems to collect and manage data as well as maintain appropriate records management.
