Job description

About Reach Social Supports

Reach Social Supports was founded in 2020 to address a growing absence in the disability sector of high-quality community focused NDIS supports in the Gippsland region. Reach now provides social group support, one-on-one support, support coordination and more to the NDIS communities of Gippsland, and Melbourne. We strongly advocate for the importance of community and social inclusion, and bring this into everything we do. Our services are focused on the client: assisting them to achieve their personal goals and to be a part of an inclusive community of like-minded individuals who are there for each other.

The role will report to the Recovery Coordination Manager.

This role is suited to someone who has a high degree of initiative and the ability to deal with a broad range of tasks. Reach also recognises the tendency for some people to only apply to roles where they meet 100% of the requirements. However, if you feel aligned to the role and would like to further explore your suitability, we welcome your application and would love to consider your fit for the role at Reach. Experience in the NDIS as a Support Coordinator, or a solid understanding of how the NDIS functions is highly desirable but not required.

  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret and effectively communicate the technical language used in a participant's NDIS plan.
  • Demonstrate you can work collaboratively with participants, their families, carers, and other services to design, plan and implement a recovery plan, and assist with the coordination of NDIS and other supports.
  • Be open to learning on the job and highly empathetic.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently in an agile environment, be flexible, resourceful and adaptive.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in the delivery of people-centred services.
  • Demonstrate organisational and problem solving skills, with an ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, teamwork, communication skills, an eye for detail and the ability to problem solve.

The Team

We are a high performing, supportive, friendly & fun team who value each other and genuinely get on. You will be part of a broader team which cares about what you do, and shows appreciation for the value you are adding.

Work With Us

As an employer, our values underpin everything we do: everything is about being part of a community, both on a staff and on a client level. As a small business, we are closely in contact with each other, while also trusting everyone to be directing their own work and not micro-managed. As a disability service provider, we hold the importance of the relationship between the staff and clients to be of utmost importance and place a very high value on interpersonal skills.

Reach is a flexible and friendly place to work. The genuine pride that our clients have in associating themselves with our organisation fills us with the greatest joy that we are providing an important service for people while at the same time empowering their independence.

Reach is passionate about excellence in the NDIS field and we want to ensure the next generation of service providers is well trained, innovative and has every opportunity to learn from the best.  This is why Reach has partnered with TAFEs across Victoria to provide job opportunities and work placements to those studying in the fields of mental health and community support.  We know people learn best when they feel safe and supported.  Reach provides an inclusive space for those studying in these fields, and most importantly, can offer flexible positions at the end of placements.

Reach has quite rapidly expanded in recent times and has moved beyond our service headquarters in Morwell. We encourage flexible working (where possible) and ensure all staff are remunerated well for their work.

We have an interest in innovation in the sector, while maintaining our values-based culture. Our clients and our people are at the heart of everything we do. As a workplace, we use regular feedback and insights from our staff and our participants to help inform and boost engagement, and have a dedicated team who ensure we are focused on employee well-being, corporate sustainability and socially interactive activities across the year.
