Qualifications & experience
- Experience in disability advocacy, social services, or a related field (can include lived experience).
- Previous experience as a Coordinator of Support, OOHC caseworker or Educator is highly desirable.
- WWCC.
- Current Drivers licence.
- NDIS worker screening check and NDIS worker orientation module.
- A diploma or degree in social work, disability studies, human services, or a related field is preferred (or currently enrolled)
Tasks & responsibilities
- Support NDIS participants with coordination of their NDIS plans, including negotiating appropriate services and connecting with community support and mainstream services.
- Promote a client-centred approach to service provision by effectively providing clients with relevant information with the aim of maximising their control and their ability to choose the services they want
- Navigate and negotiate with public sector and community-based service systems for the delivery of appropriate supports in accordance with NDIS plans
- Follow up and prepare for NDIA plan meetings and help participants negotiate their plans according to their goals and needs.
- Support participants in the review of their plans including annual reviews, change of circumstances or new plans that have insufficient support
- Proficiency in using relevant computer applications and databases for documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Building and maintaining relationships with clients and their families.
