Neurological Liaison Nurse

Here at MSWA, we specialise in providing individualised care and support to those living with neurological conditions (for example MS, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, Motor Neurone Disease, Acquired Brain Injury and Stroke).

We have a permanent Neurological Liaison Nurse opportunity available offering between 60 up to 75 hours per fortnight depending on your preference.  This will based with our nursing team at our Wilson services centre. 

You’ll be managing a case load of low and high-care clients both locally and within a wider community setting. Whilst each of our clients are unique and have their own story and journey to tell, you’ll be there to support them, their families, and their carers, helping them live their best lives!

A typical day in your new role will include conducting nursing assessments, care planning, providing nursing services (including continence management, wound management and palliative care support), clinical care (e.g., catheter care), facilitating referrals to other necessary health services and working closely with other MSWA colleagues (e.g., Allied Health teams).

Please note – whilst this role will be based out of our Wilson Services Centre, you will be required to travel to support clients in their homes within the wider community. To assist with your travel, you can book one of our pool cars, you may be able to use your own vehicle, for which the travel / kilometers will be reimbursed to you.

Our ‘must haves’

• Effective time management, including the ability to prioritise caseloads and effective communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work without supervision and as part of a team.

Compliance:

• Current registration with the Nurses Board of Western Australia as an EN or RN.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain.)
• Full C Class driving licence with no restrictions.
• Working with children check.

Our ‘nice to haves’

• Experience in Nursing within the community.
• Experience in working with people with neurological conditions and / or rehabilitation Nursing.
• Knowledge of principles and objectives of Disability Services Legislation and an understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
• Experience in palliative care, continence management and wound management.
• Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills, as well as computer literacy.
• Demonstrated sound problem-solving skills and quality improvement practices.
