A day in your life as a MSWA Nurse:
Every day will look different (that’s how life works, right?) but there will be a few core activities that will keep you busy.
- Provide advisory, educational, training and support service in relation to the administration of approved drug therapies, to people with neurological conditions in accordance with service agreements.
- Provide nursing services to people with neurological conditions as appropriate. This includes but is not limited to continence management, wound management, and palliative care support
- Facilitation of referrals to other necessary health services as well as the development and promotion of the multidisciplinary team approach to caring for individuals living with a neurological condition.
- Provide advisory, educational, training and support service in relation to specific nursing procedures and symptom management required by people with neurological conditions.
Our ‘must haves’
- Current registration with the Nurses Board of Western Australia as a general nurse.
- Effective time management, including the ability to prioritise caseloads.
- A basic understanding of neurological conditions (including multiple sclerosis, motor neuron disease) and their effects / symptom management.
- Demonstrate ability to source information and resources.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willing to obtain)
Our ‘nice to haves’
- Experience in Nursing individuals with neurological conditions and / or community and / or rehabilitation nursing.
- Experience in working with people with neurological conditions.
- Knowledge of principles and objectives of Disability Services Legislation and an understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
- Experience in palliative care, continence management and wound management.
