Job description

The Opportunity:

The National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) is now accepting applications for our 2025 Graduate Program

As a part of NIAA, you'll be contributing to the empowerment of First Nations peoples and influencing change.

We lead and influence change across government to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have a say in the decisions that affect them. We’re on-the-ground, actively partnering with First Nations communities and all levels of government to co-design policies and deliver programs across Australia.

About the Graduate Program

The NIAA Graduate program runs for 12 months and consists of three rotations through various work areas across our three streams:

· Policy and program

· Operations and delivery

· Enabling services

Graduates have the option of a rotation in one of our metropolitan, regional or remote locations.

Our graduates undertake a diversity of roles in areas such as employment, justice, education, health and wellbeing, housing, business, economics and the environment. Graduates can also work in grants management, engagement, enabling services and more!

The program gives graduates access to extensive professional learning and development, particularly ongoing cross-cultural learning through NIAA’s ‘Footprints Program’, as well as many personal development opportunities.

Who we are looking for

At the National Indigenous Australians Agency, our values reflect that people are at the heart of everything we do.

We are looking for people who:

· respect multiple perspectives

· are authentic

· are professional and act with integrity

· invest in each other’s success, and

· deliver with purpose.

We are seeking candidates that want to work at the NIAA because they are passionate and want to make a real difference by contributing to work that ensures Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are heard, recognised and empowered.

We value diversity and welcome applications from all backgrounds and qualifications and disciplines.

We have an ambitious reform agenda ahead of us. So if you are someone that wants to leave your mark on the public service and be able to point to an accomplishment that has lasting impacts for the Australian people, NIAA is the place for you.

What we offer

· Dedicated pastoral care and support program.

· Unique learning and development program, just for our graduates.

· Graduates commence at APS4 level and are considered for advancements to APS5 and APS6 on completion of the program.

· Generous salary and employment conditions, including flexibility so you can balance work with other commitments.

Join us and do work with purpose.

If this sounds like the opportunity you are looking for, we want to hear from you! Submit an online application through the NIAA Careers Page by 11:30pm Monday 15 April 2024 AEST
