We are excited to welcome a Nurse Educator who is passionate and dedicated to supporting quality, safe and person-centred care through the design and delivery of educational programs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Emergency Department nursing. This dynamic role includes:

  • Designing and implementing educational programs for staff working across all models of Emergency Department Nursing
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
  • Providing mentorship and support to nurses in their professional development.
  • Conducting ongoing assessments of educational needs and adapting programs accordingly
  • Liaising with peak professional bodies and the Ministry of Health to ensure all education content is contemporary and meets best practice and policy standards.
This role works within the Multidisciplinary Clinical Education and Development Unit in the Educational and Organisational Development Service in a supportive, team focused environment. It is a requirement of this role to be able to travel to all sites within SWSLHD to support equitable access to education and training.What You'll be Doing
The Nurse Educator is a registered nurse who has responsibility for providing healthcare education, training and professional development in a range of contexts and environments in the health sector The Nurse Educator Grade 3 leads the development, delivery and evaluation of a comprehensive education program, within their area of specialty, supporting the professional development of multidisciplinary healthcare professionals through evidence-based practice. The role facilitates learning and supports the development of healthcare professionals and supports the safe and effective delivery of person centred care across all sites and services within SWSLHD.The Education and Organisational Development Service (EODS) consists of staff with expertise in clinical and non-clinical education and organisational development focused on the delivery of the EODS Operational Plan. The departments programs and services focus on enabling a positive workplace culture, developing high performing teams and ensuring our work environment attracts and retains talent. The key portfolios within the department include Multidisciplinary Clinical Education & Development Unit, Corporate & Support Services Education & Development Unit, Learning Hub, Organisational Development, Culture & Diversity Unit and Future Workforce Support Unit.SWSLHD is recognised as a leading provider of education, training and organisational development initiatives to a health workforce of over 17,000 staff. View our for information on how to respond to criteria and . * Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Holds a post graduate qualification relevant to the education portfolio and has a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 or its successor (or TAE40110 plus the TAEASS502 and TAELLN411 units) and/or tertiary level post graduate qualification in adult education.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the design, development and evaluation of education and professional development programs within the specialty portfolio to support the strategic initiatives of a large health organisation, using contemporary education modalities in a variety of settings and to multidisciplinary audiences.
  • Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles and their application into clinical education programs.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication with the ability to effectively communicate and engage with the multidisciplinary health care team, patients/carers and consumers and external stakeholders in order to inform decision making on education matters.
  • Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidence-based education programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to support the development of staff in the performance of their duties to the required standards.
  • Demonstrated sound organisational skills and the ability to be resourceful, proactive and flexible, to ensure successful management of competing demands.
  • Must possess a valid Australian Drivers Licence (excluding learner driver's licences). If not already in possession, a NSW Drivers Licence must be obtained within 3 months of appointment.
