What you'll be doing

The Nurse Manager will lead and manage the delivery of nursing services and service improvements within their portfolio within a culture that promotes the CORE values of NSW Health: Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.
                                           
The Nurse Manager will develop an operational plan for the nursing service, identify and actively seek to develop a staffing profile reflective of the service needs and develop and manage a nursing budget within the portfolio.
 
The Nurse Manager will develop the leadership and management potential of staff, identify develop and facilitate a range of strategies to ensure nursing staff have the knowledge and skills required to undertake their roles.
 
The Nurse Manager will undertake planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of performance within the portfolio for the individual staff and the portfolio team.
 
The Nurse manager will utilise a range of communication strategies to foster shared decision making, responsibility and accountability. 

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a registered nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA).
  2. Post graduate qualification and recent management experience, or a combination of study and recent management experience.
  3. Demonstrated advanced leadership skills and an ability to motivate, inspire and manage nursing staff to achieve service and organisational goals utilising recognised change management strategies.
  4. Demonstrated experience in managing a complex service with competing service demands for access, throughput and resources.
  5. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to negotiate with a range of stakeholders.
  6. Demonstrated excellence in operational planning and policy development including the ability to utilise data to inform planning, evaluation, financial and performance management.
  7. Demonstrated experience in service planning and the development of complex patient flow pathways in an acute setting.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to best practice, quality improvement and innovation.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
