John Fawkner Private Hospital is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager to join our team on our Greenwood Medical Ward. Supported by the latest technology and an exciting $55 million upgrade, we offer state of the art surgical, medical, cancer, coronary and intensive care. We are renowned for complex surgery, with our Critical Care Complex being the only one of its type in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, providing intensive and high-dependency care post-surgery. You will play a key role within a supportive team to ensure our patients have a great experience during their care.

John Fawkner Private Hospital is located in the north west of Melbourne. With 186 registered beds, a 12 cubicle Emergency Department, 4 operating theatres, 12 bed critical care complex and busy Day Procedure Unit the hospital provides a wide range of services to its community. The hospital specialises in orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, oncology, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, ENT and gynaecology.
As a Nurse Unit Manager your responsibilities will include:
- The position is responsible for providing clinical leadership to the Medical Ward to compliment the strategic direction, operational processes and quality management of all patients.
- You will provide clinical operational direction for the unit to ensure efficient and effective management by coordinating the delivery of nursing care that is evidence based.
- As theNurse Unit Manager you will be accountable and responsible for the effective daily management of human, financial and material resources
Essential Criteria:
- Current Registration with AHPRA
- Working with Children check
- Minimum 3 years previous experience at NUM level or equivalent
- Post graduate qualifications or working towards them desirable
- Effective management of rostering processes and prioritisation/allocation of duties for all clinical staff
- Ability to communicate effectively with doctors, patients and relevant stakeholders
- Compliance with ACSQHC National standards
