About the role
South West Healthcare is seeking applications from suitably skilled and experienced Registered Nurses for the ongoing position of Nurse Unit Manger (NUM) - Acute Care Unit. This full time position will be available from March 2024.
The NUM is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the human, physical and financial resources within the Acute Care Unit. The successful applicant will actively lead the Acute Care Unit in a consultative and participative manner ensuring well planned and coordinated services to clients and their families, whilst providing clinical leadership to foster patient focused and outcome directed nursing care.
This is a permanent full time (80 hours per fortnight) position with a monthly ADO. We may consider part time and/or flexible work options for this role.
The role will work collaboratively with the nursing and midwifery leadership group and be responsible for the leadership and management of the Acute Care Unit.

What you bring
In conjunction with the Position Description's selection criteria, the successful applicant must be able to demonstrate the following key requirements;
- A Registered Nurse holding a current Registration Certificate as required by AHPRA.
- A minimum of three years nursing management experience (as a NUM or Associate NUM).
- Demonstrated clinical assessment skills and advanced nursing care of the critically ill patient, with the use of evidence-based practice.
- Expert knowledge of clinical systems that promote safe patient care.
- Experience in human resource management including recruitment, workforce and performance planning.
- Demonstrated problem / conflict solving, team building, role model and change management skills.
- Demonstrated experience in the ability to lead, consult and establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including proven negotiation and delegation skills, to cultivate productive working relationships.
Desirable:
- Relevant post graduate qualifications or willingness to complete.
- Belong to relevant professional organisation.
