Nurse Unit Manager - Flynn Unit (Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit)
Latrobe Regional Health is the main provider of Mental Health services across the Gippsland region.
Our Flynn Unit is a 36-bed acute mental health inpatient unit that provides care for people aged between 16-65 years delivering acute treatment and recovery-based interventions. The Flynn Unit consists of:
- High Dependency Adult Unit (HDAU),
- Low Dependency Unit (LDU) and
- Secure Extended Care Unit (SECU)
We’re looking for a Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) who is passionate about mental health and leading a multidisciplinary team. The NUM plays a crucial role in managing, co-ordinating, leading and developing the unit, ensuring patient centred care, and the achievement of a high standard of quality patient outcomes.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Registered Nurse (Division 1) with post basic qualification in psychiatric nursing holding current registration with AHPRA
- Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to lead a team
- Sound clinical knowledge, skills and a minimum of 5 years clinical experience
- Commitment to appropriate inpatient-based treatment for people with a psychiatric illness including recovery frameworks and the reduction of seclusion and restraint practices
- Commitment to ongoing professional training and development
- Working knowledge of the Guardianship and Administration Board
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (1985)
- Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, the National Standards for Mental Health Services 1996, the National Standards for the Mental Health Workforce 2010 and the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary service delivery framework
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
