About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the nursery, including plant care, propagation, and customer service. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for horticulture.
The proposed shifts are Monday to Wednesday, starting around 9:30 am and finishing around 2:30 pm, though additional hours might be required at times.
This role would greatly suit a parent with school-aged children.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the care and maintenance of plants, including watering, fertilizing, pruning, and pest control
- Assist in the propagation of plants through seed sowing, cuttings, and grafting
- Assist in the organization and maintenance of the nursery, including cleaning, stocking, and labelling
- Provide excellent customer service, including answering questions and assisting with plant selection
- Assist in the preparation of orders for shipment or delivery
- Operate and maintain nursery equipment, including hand tools, irrigation systems, and tractors
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a nursery or horticulture-related field preferred
- Knowledge of plant care and propagation techniques
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed
- General construction induction card (white card),
- AQF3 Chemical Application Certificate (or willingness to obtain),
- Working with children's check (or willingness to obtain),
- Class C Drivers License and own transport,
- A willingness and ability to listen and follow instructions,
- Applicant would need to be physically fit as heavy lifting is involved,
- A willingness to undertake a preemployment medical assessment and NSW Police Check
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently,
