Job description:
The primary activities of this position is to manage day to day medical centre activities, to provide early intervention and management of illness and injuries and complete other duties as required.
Key Accountabilities
Assist Medical Coordinator with effective patient care, patient review and injury management and provide assistance to the Emergency Services team as required.
- Conduct daily patient reviews
- Ability to identify and escalate non-work related medical events and commence appropriate assessment and treatment to provide patient-safety outcomes.
- Understand the use of prescription medications and their effect on fitness for work in high-risk roles.
- Understand the pre-existing co-morbidities of workers and their impact on fitness for work.
- Communication with Medical Services Providers
- Injury Management Plan creation and effective patient care
- Off-site patient transport if required for escalation of treatment
- Liaise with external medical services – emergency doctors, occupational physicians, hospitals, RFDS, etc.
- Participate and complete periodical health assessments on current employees
- Complete health assessments and assess suitability for ERT applicants
- Complete WorkCover WA Audiometric screening on workers
- Review Pre-Employment medicals and assess medical suitability
- Assist Site Occupational Hygienist in providing Occupational Fit Testing for Respiratory and Hearing Protection.
- Facilitate servicing and maintenance of medical equipment
- Medical centre equipment checks
- Maintain medical centre registers
- Monitor stock and inventory levels and complete ordering as required
- Medical centre cleaning
- Assist with the review/development of Medical Centre Procedures and Policies
- Creation of site health education sessions and delivery to work groups
- Participate in drills and skills development
- Assist with end of month reporting and auditing
- Take direction from and support ESO lead in the event of an emergency
- Response to and control of fire, rescue and hazmat emergencies
- Participation in crisis and emergency management exercises
- Assist in delivery of emergency response teams training
- Assist in defining improvement initiatives
Mandatory:
- Registered Nurse with current APHRA Registration and no restrictions.
- 5+ years working in emergency, critical care, remote nursing or other applicable clinical area
- Extensive knowledge and experience in identifying patients with acute medical events and chronic health conditions.
- Ability to safely manage clinically unwell and injured patients autonomously with telehealth support
- Experience with Mental Health Crisis and emergency cases.
- Experience completing Periodical Health Assessments i.e. Audiometry, Spirometry, Physical medical assessments.
- ALS1 Certificate
- Resuscitation team experience and advanced airway management
- Proficient in IV Cannulation
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated results from working collaboratively in a team environment
- Advanced clinical assessment and decision making skills
- Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support or International Trauma Life Support Certificate
- WorkCover WA Audiometric Officer Qualification
- Spirometry Qualification
- Immunisation Qualification
- Remote Emergency Care Certificate
- ALS2 Certificate
- Experience with telehealth services.
- INX experience (InControl, InFlight, InTuition)
- Drug & Alcohol Testing Certification
- Mental Health First Aid qualification
- Drive under emergency conditions qualification.
- Exposure to large minerals processing and mining environments
